Artist's Comments

If you can believe it, rather than having sex ed at Ivy's school, they have this bull**** class called Abstinence Ed. Ivy objects to this...with a passion, as can be seen above (Ivy things she will email this pic to the person who taught the class...teehee). The background is a photocopied handout from that class, over which are glued more little phrases, which are as follows:
"Every year..."
"...approximately 100 individuals..."
"...both juvenile and adult..."
"...in ___________ county..."
"...are prosecuted for..."
"...just messin' around." under which Ivy wrote "Living, Loving, Just being human,"
around the edges it says
"You can't put an age limit on love" and "Just because I'm not 18 doesn't mean I can't be responsible"
Other phrases...
"I won't feel guilty"
"I won't feel dirty"
"Love is free"
"...so love is impossible if you're under 18?"
"Give me a chance to make my own choice,"
"Cause life is a worst case scenario...right?" because basically what they were saying is if you have sex you WILL get pregnant, and die. Ivy sighs. She won't swallow this crap...
"I will live and love as I want,"
"I won't buy into your propaganda,"

Your friend Ivy officially kicks ass. Did you know that the government is actually pushing this for people up to age 29?! It's crazy!

My school wouldn't even let us put up AIDS awareness stuff for World AIDS day (tomorrow.) because it was "too controversial and parents can't opt their kids out of seeing it." You can't opt them out of reality!

Oops! Sayna suffered a misreading.

Anyway, it's got a great message, and I like it because I feel like vandalizing crazy propagand all the time. Oh, and I'm just sick and tired of how eveyone is freaked out by sex and can't just be mature and understand that it's part of being human.

very cool stuff. obviously thoughtful and well presented.
:iconanotherdaydreamer:
I like how you've presented this and your opinions, especially since you came up with good points without having to act offensive, especially since you spoke for yourself.

Sex is certainly NOT our enemy, and it shouldn't be presented as such. It's a fire, one of the wonderful parts of being human, and youth shouldn't be taught that it is wrong to want or participate in it. I believe that it is up to humans to make their decisions, that's why the highest power over us (God) has given us that ability. In the end, no one can take that away, even when a lot of teens are making decisions that are very damaging to themselves. Usually, if you tell someone they can't do something, their desire to only increases because they feel challenged and belittled.

The decision that I have made is to abstain from premarital sex, because a fire in the hearth is a good thing, but if it is allowed out of the hearth it can do great damage.

Anyway, long comment, but I appreciate your presentation of this even though I'm delayed commenting on it.
